Spotlight on Innovative Projects under EU R&I programmes

Here’s a brief overview of the projects that will be highlighted during the webinar:

  • BIOVEXO: BIOVEXO is working on innovative approaches to plant protection, aiming to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and promote biodiversity. This Horizon 2020 & BBI-JU funded project is committed to developing sustainable solutions that minimize the environmental impact of crop protection.
  • SAGROPIA: This Horizon Europe project focuses on developing sustainable plant protection solutions using biological and low-risk pesticides. Targeting potato and sugar-beet crops, SAGROPIA aims to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and integrate new, sustainable solutions into comprehensive integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
  • VIRTIGATION: Dedicated to combating viral diseases in tomatoes and cucurbits, VIRTIGATION is developing a range of bio-based solutions, including vaccines for plants, biopesticides against virus vectors, and integrated pest management strategies. This Horizon 2020 project aims to safeguard these vital crops from devastating viral diseases.
  • NextGenBioPest: This Horizon Europe project is focused on advancing biopesticide research and development to provide effective and environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides. By promoting the use of bio-based solutions, NextGenBioPest aims to enhance the sustainability of agricultural practices.
