On the 5th of December 2025, RTDS Group welcomed a delegation from five of Slovenia’s most prominent research institutes to its offices for an in-depth session on Horizon Europe project development and implementation.
The delegation represented top-level public institutions of Slovenia, all part of the EU and nationally-funded 5xPro project consortium: National Institute of Chemistry (NIC), the National Institute of Biology (NIB), the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), the Institute of Contemporary History (INZ) and the Institute of Metals and Technology (IMT). The 5xPro project aims to enhance knowledge, strengthen competences and foster collaboration among Slovenian research institutes, ultimately improving their success rates in securing Horizon Europe funding.
A day dedicated to innovation and impact
The visit was led by Stephen Webb, RTDS Group Chairman and Founder, who, alongside RTDS experts, guided the 25 participants from the 5xPro project in the do’s and don’ts of Horizon Europe project development. Participants gained practical insights into strategy, innovation and implementation tailored to their research areas, ranging from chemistry, health to the arts and humanities.
Following the overview session, the Slovenian researchers and project managers pitched their Horizon Europe project ideas directly to our experts. They received practical recommendations on how to improve their project ideas, in particular how to better illustrate their impact on society.
Building on this collaboration, the 5xPro delegation has already invited RTDS funding experts to organise a dedicated Horizon Europe training in spring 2026 in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. We look forward to this opportunity to deepen relationships and support Slovenian research institutes to develop their innovation strategies, and design Horizon Europe proposals to produce high impact results and outcomes!
