On the 8th of April, the VIRTIGATION project will host a session on new mitigation strategies for the ToBRFV plant virus at the IAPV 25 conference.
Detailed Agenda
Date: 8th – 11th April 2025
Location: Aula de Cultura Cajamurcia, Murcia, Spain
IAPV25 conference: pioneering research advances in plant virology
The International Advances in Plant Virology (IAPV) conferences are organised by the Virology group of the renowned Association of Applied Biologists, and take place every three years to discuss and assess the latest scientific findings in all aspects of plant virology. The VIRTIGATION project is co-hosting the IAPV25, alongside the Euphresco project community network for practices in plant virology (VIRNET2).
VIRTIGATION: protecting tomato and cucurbit crops from emerging plant viruses
VIRTIGATION, a project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 program, is at the forefront of protecting tomato and cucurbit crops from emerging plant viruses, including ToBRFV. VIRTIGATION aims to develop a set of bio-based remedies to safeguard tomato and cucurbit from these devastating viruses. The project will propose and demonstrate several innovative solutions, including vaccines for the plants, biopesticides against virus vectors, as well as new Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies.
The VIRTIGATION session at the IAPV 25 conference
On the 8th of April, VIRTIGATION will organise the prestigious opening session of the IAPV 25 conference. The VIRTIGATION session will define new mitigation strategies for the devastating ToBRFV plant virus, which has wreaked havoc in global tomato crop production, especially in greenhouses.
Alongside research talks by esteemed scientists in the area of ToBRFV research, the VIRTIGATION session will also elaborate recommendations for plant health policymakers on how to improve ToBRFV control and eradication measures in greenhouses.
Taking part in the IAPV25
Participation to the IAPV25 is possible in person or online, and is subject to prior registration. Registration is still possible by contacting the organiser Geraint Parry from the Association of Applied Biologists. Join us on the 8th of April for the VIRTIGATION session at the IAPV25 conference!
